Yaiza Melero

Yaiza, is the manager of the Yaiza Dance Studio who began her training at the age of 3, in Sabadell (Barcelona), studying flamenco and Jazz until she was 12 years old at the Mar Luque Dance Study. As she studied year after year, she received extra training in other dance styles at the same time that, at the age of 9, she began to study classical technique. At the age of 12 she changed cities and settled in Murcia, there she began her training more focused on Flamenco and urban style (Funky – Hip Hop). Her family decides to open a dance studio and there she spends a large part of her training. In 2011 she joined her teacher’s flamenco ballet until 2011-2016, in which she performed her own show entitled “POEMS”, paying tribute to Federico García Lorca and Enrique Morente. During those years her training in other styles was still active, forming part of an urban group, and her training in salsa and bachata began, the style that she works the most today. In 2014 she began to be part of a professional Latin dance company (Compañía Dansé), the year in which she also began to prepare to compete in this style alone. It was in 2015 when she got the first position in the “Spain Latin Dance Cup” qualifying Championship for the Salsa World Championship held in Miami “World Latin Dance Cup” in which she was classified in 5th position. It is from here when she begins to work as a couple to compete in this modality as well. 2015-2017 was a period of many competitions in both modalities and many jobs in foreign countries such as India, Russia, Italy, the United States, Germany… in this “salsa and bachata” style. Yaiza has been recognized by titles such as Bachata Free Steps World Champion, Two-time Spanish Salsa Champion Free Steps and 3rd in the World of Salsa Free Steps (her last title achieved this year), all of them in solo mode. She is currently studying the Title of Expert in Flamenco Art at the Catholic University of Cartagena (UCAM) and working as a teacher of urban dances and Latin dances in several dance schools.
